Out of the Ordinary: Dina Varano Jewelry and Rarities Fashions from the New Viet Nam

August 4 – September 15

Dina Varano, a Chester resident, creates jewelry that captures the essence and gesture of nature. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, her jewelry succeeds as self-contained objects of art that are wearable. Her designs use gold, silver and gemstones in organic and singularly stunning ways. Varano is well known regionally and an annual presence at the famed Guilford Craft Fair, as well as other juried events.

Rarities Fashions from the New Viet Nam was incorporated in July 2000 by Cynde Iverson, a classical bassoonist, after a tour through Vietnam with Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. Originally featuring classic Vietnamese fashions that were made to order, over the years Iverson’s ability as a designer has become increasingly present in the clothes. Rarities now specializes in one-of-a-kind clothing in silk, velvet and taffeta, combining color, fabric, symmetry, and supple lines in a fusion of East and West. In addition to clothing, Rarities also offers stunning Beju scarves of knitted “jewels” which Cynde makes herself.
